Over £10,000 of vouchers to be given away by The Moor Market this Christmas.

Claim a £5 Voucher for The Moor Market

The Moor Market and its traders have launched The Great Christmas Giveaway, a new scheme to end a difficult 2020 with a bang.

Recognising that it has been a tough year for many — including the market’s traders — The Moor Market are offering over £10k worth of £5 vouchers for people to claim and use at any of the venue’s stalls.

Vouchers can be claimed online at The Moor Market website and are issued in the form of QR codes, making them easily used whilst maintaining social distancing in the market.

For those shielding, £200 worth of the vouchers will be distributed to those who can’t visit in person via The Moor Market’s new delivery service ChefChef.store.

“The Great Christmas Giveaway is a way of giving something back to the Moor Market customers after a very tough year.

“The Markets have worked hard to create a safe shopping experience, traders have been here to support Sheffield throughout the pandemic, adapting and going the extra mile to support customers.

“Although we have still seen thousands of customers shopping in the market or online, people are being made redundant or being furloughed, money is tight for many and the uncertainty caused by Coronavirus is reducing spend as well as actual visits.

“Our aim is to encourage more people to shop here, whether that’s for gifts, goodies or groceries and generally boost awareness of the Moor Market.  We have created a fully Covid-secure environment to allow people to shop safely with us and want to share the market’s fun, friendly and festive atmosphere with everyone in Sheffield as we all countdown to Christmas.”Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Leisure

Support The Moor Market’s traders by spending your £5 voucher with them

As well as a boost to your Christmas shopping coffers, the voucher giveaway helps to support your favourite Moor Market trader by spending it with them.

“I think the voucher deal is amazing. It will give people encouragement to come in, have a look and see how fresh things are.

“We’re coming up to Christmas and I think for a lot of people, Christmas is going to be very different this year. It’s going to be more family orientated and it’s going to be more about making sure people are all right, and that they’ve got enough.

“We want people to come down with an open mind. Look around all the stores before you make up your mind on how to use your vouchers.”Sue Youdan, owner of S & J’s pantry in The Moor Market

Grab a Moor Market bargain with the Twelve Deals of Christmas

Additionally some traders will be offering one-off special deals on specific items each day with the ‘Twelve Deals of Christmas.

“The Twelve Deals of Christmas is another giveaway where traders, on selected days, are offering a better deal than you would ever normally get from their stalls, but it is only available on that one particular day.”Bruce Payne, co-owner of The Market Chippy in The Moor Market

Plus you’ll get all the usual market banter and expertise only found in these unique market environments.

“It’s not just about the £5 voucher or the deals, you’ve got a lot of banter going on in the market and the customer relations are second to none. The market is all about the atmosphere and there’s more of a personal touch.

“The big thing is that by using the market people are supporting local business, as opposed to big supermarkets. You can get the majority of the things you can get in the supermarkets here, but with added expertise and fun.”Wayne Osborne, Micks Grade ‘A’ Meats, The Moor Market

And by shopping at The Moor Market you support local small business and the local economy.

“We want everyone in Sheffield to know where they can get all their essentials.  We have good quality produce at reasonable prices and from small local businesses, which need their support.

“Our traders are here and happy to give cooking advice about their products and to have a chat with anyone that wants to stop for a natter – it’s just a totally different shopping experience at the market And don’t forget for every £1 spent in your local market 63p goes straight back into the Sheffield economy, for supermarkets and chains it’s as low as 5p.”Julia Hart, Deputy Markets Manager
